In 1993, Kalico Founder and CEO Joseph Kalimian independently purchased his first property on Long Island, New York. With a long-term vision, Joseph retained the property as an investment, using his returns for his fledgling family firm's growth over the next decade. He soon expanded into The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Harlem, where he invested, developed and resold larger properties; then, in the 2000s came the purchase of commercial and multi-unit properties, as well as developments. Kalico had become a powerhouse in the New York metro area.

Expanding its residential reach further into Long Island, Kalico spearheaded projects in the Hamptons and beyond, and is now engaged in coast-to-coast investment in all areas of the business. Kalico is now executing the large-scale development of residential properties and managing rental units across New York, in addition to a vast commercial and mixed-use portfolio. With a dedicated internal management team and a reliable external partner group of architects, developers, legal consultants, and lenders, Kalico has access to dedicated contractors and is able to offer the most competitive turnaround times in the business. The firm continues to grow its reach and seeks to expand further into nationwide investment, development, and partnerships.

Before entering the real estate realm, in the 1980s, Founder and CEO Joseph Kalimian worked in the garment business in central Manhattan, manufacturing ladies' apparel. From that hands-on experience and design skill, he developed a sharp eye for detail that carries into his execution of home-building and other real estate projects today. With a passion for creating the new, Joseph Kalimian evolved his career into real estate one investment at a time, eventually growing the business into the thriving, multigenerational family firm it is today. Joseph is happy to be working alongside a devoted internal team as well as trusted outside partners to bring his visions to life.
